Sherwin Williams announced their new Color of the Year, and for this beach loving gal, it sounds delightful. “Oceanside” reminds me of the rich teal blue color found in old glass fishing floats used to hold nets aloft in the ebb and flow of the ocean currents far out at sea. You know it is big when Realtor.com writes about it.
I love this color! It’s rich, decadent, opulent, just a touch extravagent (for me) and would be a wonderful addition to liven up any room in your home. Great as an accent color, I think if it was used in a rather large room it would be a little too over the top for me. I could totally see this used as an accent color on an open shelving unit, used on an accent wall, or to liven up a small bathroom. Just wait for home decor and furnishings to start picking up this color, and you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.
And yes, before you freak out thinking you can’t use darker toned colors in a small space, you can! As with ANY painting project, be sure to do test swatches to test how it looks during different times of the day. Have fun with it, open your heart and mind to the richness of what color can bring to your home and life!
